City of Douglas Canvass, Saturday Aug. 7 at 1-5 pm, Meet at 8th St. Park

I am holding a canvass party in the City of Douglas this Saturday, August 8th from 1-5 pm.  We will meet at the 8th Street Park in Douglas at 1 pm.  I will hand out voter lists and instructions, along with face masks for anyone who needs one.  We will then walk our assigned streets until about 4:45 and meet back in the park for pizza, wings and refreshments.  Please call me at 520-600-5556 if you wish to volunteer so I can plan for food and drinks.

My name is on the General Ballot!

After 15 months of campaigning, we are now into the final fight.  The General Election early ballots come out on October 7th and my name will be on the ballot!  I want to take a moment to thank everyone who has supported me along the way.  Please keep the support coming because we all know that a female candidate has to work a lot harder.

Signature Goals Met Despite Coronavirus Pandemic

Dear Constituents:

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, several scheduled events for my campaign have been canceled. I will keep you posted regarding future scheduled events as we receive further direction from our government officials.

The filing deadline to file my nomination petition signatures is Monday April 6, 2020.  Because I am running as an Independent, I need 755 valid signatures to get my name on the ballot, whereas my partisan opponent candidates only need 550.

I am pleased to announce that I have collected over 2100 signatures and that I have enough valid signatures to secure my place on the ballot.

While I certainly did not expect the pandemic, I have learned to expect the unexpected.  I never wait until the last minute to complete tasks, which is why I started early last May collecting signatures and had collected over 2000 by this January, despite working full time, being a mom to an 8 year old, and taking online classes at Harvard.

This is a testament to my work ethic and my level of preparation.  If elected as your Superior Court Judge, you can always count on me to work hard and to come to court prepared to handle your case.

I know that right now most of you are worried about very serious matters such as whether you are going to have a job, be able to pay your rent, mortgages, utilities, etc.  I too share these concerns, especially since my husband, Chris Russell, runs a small business as a self-employed lawyer.

Please know that I care very much about what you are going through and about this community, and it is my sincere wish that we all maintain our health and look out for one another.  I am an extrovert, so this social isolation is definitely not my idea of fun!  But we can do this!

I look forward to when we can once again be social so that I can meet you!  Stay tuned for announcements of events so we can make that happen.

Sincerely,

Sandy Russell
